Purpose

Function to perform picture formatting

Syntax

TRANSFORM(<exp>, <expC>)

See Also

@...GET, IIF(), STR()

Description

The TRANSFORM() function allows formatting of <exp> using a picture string <expC> in a similar way to the @...GET command. TRANSFORM() returns a character string formatted as requested. TRANSFORM() is particularly useful for redefining field widths when formatting reports or forms.

From version 9.3.3 onwards, the TRANSFORM() function can be used to return a numeric as a hexadecimal.

Example

total = 3001.23
? transform(total, "$$$$$9.99")
 $3001.23

? transform((0x1a * 2),"@0")
0x00000034
